چکیده

The effects of treatment with various doses of carcinostatic agents on tumor growth have been studied. In animal experiments. treatment with low concentrations of nitrogen mustard N-oxide resulted in an early death of mh:e bearing Ehrlich ascites carcinoma and an increase in the number of circulating Yoshida sarcoma cells. The growth of subcutaneously implanted Yoshida sarcoma was stimulated after contact of the cells with Jow concentrations of nitrogen mustard N·oxide in vitro or intraperitoneally. Low concentrations of Mitomycin-C and Chromomycin As also showed increase of tumor growth and metastasis formation. In vitro study showed that the proliferation of HeLa cells was stimulated by adding low concentrations of nitrogen mustard N-oxide. Mitomycin-C, and Chromomycin As into the culture media. In clinical studies, much more cancer ceIls were released into the stomach cavity after the administration of nitrogen mustard N·oxide, Mitomycin-C, and Chromomycin As.

Production of metastases by treatment with carcinostatic agents. I. Effects of carcinostatic agents on the host.

The number of lung "metastases" that develop from intravenously injected tumor cells is modified by the administration of certain carcinostatic agents. The number is increased by post-treatment with small amounts of mechlorethamine (HN~) or actinomycin D, but is decreased by larger amounts. Pretreatment with HN~ results in increased numbers of lung metastases. Pretreatment with actinomycin D, H...

Antitumor and anti-invasive effects of diverse musk-fragrant macrocyclic ketones and their enhancement by hyperthermia.

The antitumor and anti-invasive activities of the low-molecular-weight macrocyclic ketones (MCKs), such as musk secreted from the mammalian genital glands and musk released from relatively unkown plants, were investigated comparatively together with the enhancement of the effects in combination with hyperthermia. Ehrlich ascites tumor cells were treated with each MCK and cultured, followed by e...

The effects of the carcinostatic agents on the cell cycle of Ehrlich ascites carcinoma cells.

The influence of tumor cell aging upon growth inhibition by carcinostatic agents was investigated with Ehrlich tumor in the form of ascitic cells. In the experiment on tumor growth, the rate of growth decreased with the lapse of time following tumor inoculation. The generation time of the 2-day old tumor was approximately 12 hours; that of the 6-day old tumor was approxi· mately 42 hours. There...

Antitumor and anti-invasive effects of diverse new macrocyclic lactones, alkylolides and alkenylolides, and their enhancement by hyperthermia.

Alkylolides and alkenylolides of 198-254 Da such as hexadecan-16-olide and 9-hexadecen-16-olide were chemically synthesized in the present study as new macrocyclic lactones that are structurally different from widespread natural macrocyclic lactones including bryostatin (887 Da) and rhizoxin (613 Da), and were investigated for antitumor activity to Ehrlich ascites tumor cells by mitochondrial d...

Effects of ethyl-esterization, chain-lengths, unsaturation degrees, and hyperthermia on carcinostatic effect of omega-hydroxylated fatty acids.

AIM To evaluate promotive effect of hyperthermia on the carcinostatic activity of synthesized omega-hydroxy fatty acids (omega HFAs) and their ethylesters agaist Ehrlich ascites tumor (EAT) cells. METHODS EAT cells were cultured with either omegaHFAs or their ethylester derivatives in a water bath at either 37 degrees C or 42 degrees C for 30 min, followed by incubation in a CO2 incubator for...
